Nina Dobrev spoke about what happened in her glamorous engagement day surprise.

Dobrev, 35, spoke about preparing to be proposed to by Shaun White via Instagram on Thursday, November 14. “Get ready with me for a Vogue dinner offered by Anna Wintour …at least that’s what I thought,” Dobrev recounted over a clip of herself using a cloth mask and eye patches.

After creating a dewy base, Dobrev explained that her makeup artist, Soo Park, created “a winged eyeliner look, stopped for a quick sing-along, and then we decided to cut some mid-glam bangs, but had to cover my face so the hair wouldn’t fall on my makeup.

The actress separated her bangs from her face with a paper napkin on which she drew a smiley face, like her hairdresser, Dawson Hiegertworked his magic on his locks. The rest of her brown mane was styled in beachy waves.

Next, she dressed in a Chanel outfit including a sparkly button-down dress, polka dot tights and a black coat.

Dobrev explained that her team unsettled her further by taking photos of her look, as they normally would before any event.

“I didn’t know what was waiting for me on the other side of the door,” said the Vampire Diaries » exclaimed one alum. “To say I was shocked is an understatement.” Dobrev also shared an adorable clip of herself panting as she opened the door and realized White, 28, was about to propose to her.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been more shocked or surprised or happier in my whole life,” she said. “I’m the planner of our relationship, so I was shocked that Shaun pulled this off without me knowing. Best day of my life.
