JC Schools Foundation awards more than $10,000 to teachers and schools

The Jefferson City School District announced recipients of the Mid America Bank Fall 2024 Grant Program on Friday.

The foundation awarded a total of $10,463.23 to the recipients.

Of the recipients, three were schools and seven were teachers.

Mid America Bank funds were awarded for specific projects and/or equipment through an application process.

The press release indicates that the recipients were rewarded with the surprise presentation of a check.

School winners were Belair Elementary, for a green screen production studio; Jefferson City Academic Center for cameras, lighting and editing software; and Jefferson City High School for graphing calculators.

Teacher scholarships were awarded to Lauren Gilbert of Capital City High School, Laura Thomas of East Elementary, Abigail Nahlik of Jefferson City High School, Merrie Gorsky of Moreau Heights Elementary, Amanda Jackson of North Elementary, Amanda Heflin of Southwest Early Childhood Center and Erin LaFlamme. from Thorpe Gordon Primary School.
