Scenes as Ghana fail to qualify for CAN 2025

AFCON 2025 will be without one of its biggest and brightest talent pools after continental giants and four-time AFCON winners Ghana failed to qualify for the tournament. ‘winter.

Atto Oddo’s Black Stars, who notably participated in the 2022 World Cup and are currently on course to qualify for the next edition in North America, failed to defeat Angola, leader of Group F , in a 1-1 away draw.

With this result, Ghana unfortunately finds itself in last position in the group without a single victory in five qualifying matches. Subsequently, they were mathematically excluded from the possibility of advancing to the group stage of the tournament.

It is the first time since the West African nation has missed the tournament in almost two decades, while having recently struggled in 2021 and 2023 when they failed to advance from group play.

The likes of Mohamed Kudus, Antonie Semenyo, Ibrahim Osman, Ernest Nuamah, Thomas Partey and Mohamed Salisu will now watch from a distance.

En route to a winless streak in AFCON qualifying, Ghana scored just two goals in five outings despite having a star-studded squad by most standards, while being shut out three times.
