NCIS: Origins’ Austin Stowell Thinks Gibbs and Lala Inspired Rule 12

Did NCIS: Origins‘Gibbs created rule 12 because of his feelings for Lala? Austin Stowell thinks so.

“There’s a reason why people who work together sometimes end up coming together. It’s that they understand each other,” Stowell, 39, said exclusively. Us every week. “There’s a lot of Lala in Gibbs and vice versa that they see as a bit of a mirror image. But they are both very stubborn.

Stowell noted that the chemistry between Gibbs and Lala (Mariel Molino) it couldn’t have been worse time.

“At this point, we’re still a few months after Gibbs lost his wife and child. Even though these emotions creep in, he probably calms them down and feels like he shouldn’t have these feelings,” the actor explained. “If his wife and daughter were still alive, he would be with them . It is only because of their death – their murder – that he blames himself for being in this position and interacting with the people he is with.

NCIS: Origins follows a young Gibbs – a role created by Mark Harmon — years before the events of NCIS. The new series picks up less than a year after the murder of Gibbs’ wife and daughter. “The turmoil that probably causes it (is obvious). (This week’s) episode was a great example of that, where you see Gibbs and Lala becoming physically intimate for the first time and having to work together,” Stowell said. We. “This is where their bond is created. When you have experiences with another person – especially ones where you have to overcome some effort and succeed – it can be a real bonding memory for the two of you. This event may be the catalyst for something more.

Despite the obvious tension between Gibbs and Lala, the potential couple is “very aware” of the fact that they are work colleagues.

“That wouldn’t be a good idea.” Rule 12, we haven’t seen this rule written yet. It might be in (Gibbs’) box, I’m not sure,” Stowell said of the list Gibbs created for himself. “But he might not have had a reason to write that rule if he had already been with (his wife) Shannon.” It is therefore possible that changes will be made to the rules in the future.

NCIS the fans already know it this rule 12 states that Gibbs should “never date a co-worker.” Stowell doesn’t know if this is where the story is going, but he has no doubt that Gibbs truly cares about Lala.

“Certainly, his attraction to Lala has as much to do with who she is as a person as it does with her aesthetic value,” he continued. “He sees something in her that enlightens him.”

Stowell has a multitude of thoughts on Or NCIS: Origins I could go there – but he has no inside information.

North) what we said from the beginning was that they wanted to write for us, get to know us and see what worked during filming. So I think we educate them about their own characters as the episodes go on,” he noted. “I don’t have a lot of episodes coming up. And we still have crimes to solve and memories to look back on. Some upcoming events in the next episodes are extremely important to the story of NCIS and Gibbs’ story that I’m really excited to share with fans of the series.

Stowell couldn’t contain his love for the opportunity to play in NCIS: Originssharing: “To have the NCIS The universe continues to grow and to be a part of this canon now is really awesome. It’s a lot of fun to be a part of. I just didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. And believe me, I love every character I play. It has become so important to me because I can feel how important it is to others. I love that people can look at Gibbs and say, “That’s a real person.” »

He added: “The fact that I’m playing a character who’s dealing with her own mental health issues – something that’s very close to my heart – and how to overcome those issues or certainly how to deal with them. There are reasons why I love it and I feel like the luckiest man alive. I feel like it was meant to be.
