Magnitude 3.0 earthquake shakes communities in regional Victoria

An earthquake shook parts of regional Victoria on Saturday morning.

A magnitude 3.2 earthquake was recorded around 10:45 a.m. near Woodend, about 70km northwest of Melbourne’s CBD, according to the federal government’s Geoscience Australia.

The earthquake struck at a depth of 7 km.

At the time of publication, approximately 103 people had felt the earthquake.

The Seismology Research Center (SRC) recorded the earthquake which struck north of Bacchus Swamp in Lerderderg National Park, about half an hour’s drive from the Woodend area.

A small aftershock of magnitude 1.6 following the earthquake, according to the SRC.
