Man convicted of attempted strangulation

COEUR d’ALENE — A man accused of choking and threatening to kill a woman is in jail on $100,000 bail.

Sean D. Freeze, 44, of Post Falls, is charged with attempted strangulation, a felony, and domestic battery in the presence of a child, a misdemeanor.

The charges date back to Nov. 8, when Post Falls police responded to a report that Freeze had attacked a woman.

The woman told police Freeze strangled her and, while attempting to strangle her, repeatedly threatened to kill her. Police observed a red mark on the woman’s collarbone and scratches on her knee. His voice was hoarse, “indicative of strangulation,” according to court records.

After a Kootenai County judge issued a $100,000 arrest warrant for Freeze, he was taken into custody Sunday evening in Airway Heights, Washington. He was transported to the Kootenai County Jail on Thursday.

Freeze also faces felony charges in two unrelated cases. He was charged in July with two counts of grand theft and with intentional damage to property in September.
