UAE reviews relief efforts in Philippines after tropical storm devastation – News

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), reviewed the progress of the UAE’s relief operations in the Philippines after Tropical Storm Kristine ( Trami) recently hit the Philippines.

Sheikh Hamdan telephoned a CRE delegation in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, during which he was briefed on the relief operations.

Sheikh Hamdan said that the ERC Authority is leveraging all its capabilities to realize the vision of President Sheikh Mohammed by supporting countries in all circumstances, regardless of race or religion.

The ERC delegation completed the first phase of the UAE’s assistance to those affected by the typhoon in Sorsogon, the province most affected by the typhoon. The distribution of humanitarian aid included the municipalities of Bulan, Irosin, Coban, Kasi Goran and Sorsogon City.

This is the second delegation to monitor relief operations.

UAE Ambassador to the Philippines Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi highlighted the strength of bilateral relations between the UAE and the Philippines.

He said the UAE’s support for those affected by the typhoon in the Philippines is a duty dictated by the bonds of human brotherhood between the two countries, noting that the country has always supported humanitarian conditions in the Philippines.

Philippine Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian praised the initiative of the UAE and its leaders to respond quickly and provide support to those affected by the typhoon. He also praised the efforts of the Emirates Red Crescent delegation to quickly reach the disaster areas.
