Hibs seek revenge in second Edinburgh derby – how to follow on BBC

Sunday marks the second meeting of the season between Edinburgh rivals Hearts and Hibernian.

Grant Scott’s Hibs side will be desperate to right the wrongs of the 4-0 defeat they suffered at Easter Road earlier this season.

This weekend, it’s Hearts’ turn to host.

“Disappointment is the only word I can use,” Hibs boss Scott said. reflecting on that four-goal loss.

“We firmly believe we didn’t perform to the level we could and Hearts, to their credit, took full advantage of that.

“I hope it doesn’t happen again this weekend.”

Meanwhile, Hearts are hoping for a repeat of this match, an event which event manager Eva Olid described as “so special”.

“But this time, winning here, in our own stadium, would be even more special,” she added.

Before this September meeting, the teams were quite close.

Last season, Hibs won three of the four matches with scores of 2-0, 2-1 and 1-0. Hearts won the other match 2-0.

Since then, both men have used their respective teams with numerous back-and-forths during the summer window.

Kathleen McGovern and Ciara Grant moved from Hearts to Hibs, while Naomi Powell went the other direction.

However, Hearts have had the better start to the season and currently sit third in the top flight, level on points with Rangers and just one behind leaders Glasgow City.

Hibs are currently fifth, four points behind their rivals Edinburgh, three behind Celtic and five out of first place.

They have already taken points from last season’s top two after holding Celtic and Rangers to a draw so far this season.

They are also in the quarter-finals of the SWPL Cup, where they will face Aberdeen for a place in the final.
