3-year-old pulled from Wake County pond dies

The sheriff’s office said the child was taken to a hospital Friday where he died from his injuries.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) — A 3-year-old child has died after deputies say he was pulled from a pond near Wake Forest Friday.

According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), deputies responded to a possible drowning call around 12:40 p.m. on Hasentree Way near Wake Forest.

WCSO said first responders provided life-saving measures to the toddler before he was hospitalized.

On Saturday, authorities announced that the child had died from his injuries.

“On behalf of our office, I send our condolences to the family during this difficult time. We stand with them and the community as they navigate this loss,” said Sheriff Willie Rowe.
