Volunteers sought to protect vulnerable people in Guernsey

Insp. Lisa Hart, from Guernsey Police, said: “Appropriate adults are a vital part of the criminal justice system there to support vulnerable islanders during what can be very difficult and overwhelming times.

“They act as a voice for the person interacting with law enforcement, while also providing significant oversight of the police, prisons and courts, to ensure fairness in the entire process.

“We encourage anyone with experience working with vulnerable people and looking to give back to the community to apply.”

All applicants must be over 18 years of age and will be required to undergo a basic police check to ensure suitability for the role.

Although the role is voluntary, successful applicants may be reimbursed for all travel costs.
