Samangan entrepreneurs seek support to grow their business – Pajhwok Afghan News

AIBAK (Pajhwok): A female entrepreneur from the northern province of Samangan established a small dairy factory with an initial investment of 40,000 afs and generated jobs for dozens of other vulnerable women.

She set up the factory in her house where different types of dairy products and achar are produced.

Sultana, in an exclusive interview, told Pajhwok Afghan News that her dairy production factory has been operational for five years with a small initial investment, many financial challenges and the absence of a suitable market.

She said: “When I started working in the dairy sector in Samangan, my capital was 40,000 afs, but now the capital of my small factory is more than 150,000 afs, if there is has the support, I can expand this dairy factory nationally. level.”

In addition to providing work opportunities to dozens of women at their homes, every morning, raw milk was collected from homes in remote areas, which also represented a form of work for 70 to 80 families.

Sultana said, “After collecting milk from homes in remote areas, we produce yogurt, cheese, butter, mask and various kinds of species, such as chakni, achar, and we let’s bring to the market in Aibak town. for sale.”

Sultana said that people should use national production, especially products made by women, so that, on the one hand, women’s economic problems are solved and, on the other hand, they can expand their work and generate more work opportunities for other women.

She asked the local administration to provide more support to women traders and entrepreneurs and open a special women’s market where businesswomen and entrepreneurs could sell their products.

Behishta Mohammadi, one of the women working in this factory, said, “I have been working here for the last two years and I earn my living from this work, I am happy to have her job. »

She also asked local authorities and NGOs to support small businesses to generate more work opportunities.

Zubaida Ezzati, one of the social activists in Samangan, praised the Sultan’s performance in Samangan and said that creating work opportunities for women not only helped solve their problems but also reduced domestic violence .

Sultana is not the only female entrepreneur in Samangan, but Firashta Zarifi is another entrepreneur in the province who invested 10,000 afs and ventured into crafts and sewing.

Ferishta is the owner of the Abresham factory. She told Pajhwok Afghan News: “It now has 20 trainers and in the past it has trained some trainees who were now working for themselves and training others. »

She said: “When I started my work in this sector, I had a capital of 10,000 Afghanis, and with this capital, I continued my work with many challenges. Now, thanks to Allah Almighty, I am self-reliant and can support myself and my family from this source.

Samangan Department of Commerce and Industry Director Mawlavi Ahmad Khan Khadim said his department had supported 1,500 women through the government or NGOs.

He said the Ministry of Trade and Industry paid special attention to supporting women workers and small entrepreneurs and tried to support small and large businessmen and industrialists in various ways.
