Toronto Blue Jays ‘going to find a guy’ this offseason, MLB insider says

Right now, all eyes are on Juan Soto for the Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays have their sights set on signing the free agent superstar, and they’ve already met with him this weekend, delivering a solid introductory speech.

However, even if it’s not Soto, ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan says the Blue Jays are going to turn heads this winter by acquiring someone of significant value. He made these comments on the popular Cespedes BBQ podcast:

Again, pairing Soto with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette in the batting order is Toronto’s preferred outcome, but if they lose to Soto, who could step in?

Well, Toronto has been linked to third baseman Alex Bregman, who would fit in well as the team’s opening third baseman. He also has a relationship with Jays outfielder George Springer, as the two played together for years in Houston. Additionally, Toronto has been linked to first base options like Pete Alonso. If they did that, they could slide Guerrero Jr. to third base.

The Jays have also been connected to the best pitchers on the market, including left-hander Max Fried. You can also expect them to pitch for Japanese superstar Roki Sasaki, who is coming to the United States at the age of 23.

THE Blue Jays finished 74-88 last season, missing the playoffs, but they still have a great team capable of doing damage in 2024. Getting that extra piece, whatever it is, could go a long way in helping Toronto get back into the playoffs.
