Now that Agatha throughout And love is blind season 7 are over, my TV schedule seems a little light. And there’s really only so many times I can rewatch Outer Banks before my persona turns into that of a wannabe Pogue, so when I say I’m excited for Inner ChinatownI’m serious. In fact, I’m so excited for my next TV obsession that I have the Inner Chinatown Season 1 schedule memorized so I can clear my calendar.

According to Charles Yu’s book, Inner Chinatown is about Willis Wu, played by Jimmy O. Yang, a background character trapped in a police procedural called Black and white. Willis is a stereotypical Asian American television character: he works in a Chinese restaurant and is confined to the confines of Chinatown, kept mostly on the outskirts of the action. That is, until he witnesses a crime and gets the chance to be the main character for once. It’s a satire of Hollywood tropes and prejudices that place Asians on screen in a very small box.
