Food Lion donates nearly $4 million to help victims of Hurricane Helene

Food Lion and its customers have collectively raised more than $3.9 million for Hurricane Helene relief, with funds supporting the fight against hunger and rebuilding efforts in affected communities across the Southeast regions and the mid-Atlantic.

Food Lion and its customers have come together to contribute more than $3.9 million in disaster relief to support communities impacted by the devastation and destruction of Hurricane Helene. This amount includes customer donations to the register of more than $2.2 million from October 2-30.

The omnichannel grocery retailer matched customer contributions up to $1 million across all stores in its 10-state operating area. Created in 2001, the foundation provides financial support to programs and organizations dedicated to the fight against hunger. The remaining $750,000, funded by Food Lion and its foundation, was distributed after the hurricane to nonprofit organizations focused on disaster relief or feeding people immediately after a major disaster.

Although these are challenging times, our local partners and neighbors can count on Food Lion to help meet both immediate needs and long-term rebuilding.

The hunger-relief platform provided 36,000 pounds of food, filling two tractor-trailers to jump-start efforts at MANNA FoodBank in Asheville, North Carolina, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Carolina North in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
