Reaffirming its position, Russia said on Wednesday that a “freeze” of the conflict in Ukraine along existing front lines would be unacceptable to the Russian Federation.

This comes after the US State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs announced on Wednesday that the
American Embassy in kyiv received “specific information” about a potential significant air attack and would therefore be closed.

When Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked about the closure of the US embassy in kyiv during his daily press briefing, he declined to comment but said Russia believed the outgoing administration of Joe Biden had shown that she was fully determined to continue the war in Ukraine and was doing everything possible to achieve this.

According to The guardian report, the US Embassy received information of the potential attack on November 20.

It recommends that American citizens prepare to take immediate shelter if an air alert is announced.

The warning comes a day after Ukraine used US-made long-range ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) missiles to strike targets in Russia, after the outgoing Biden administration lifted restrictions on the use of ATACMS by Ukraine on the 1,000th day of the war.

U.S. President Joe Biden on Sunday authorized Ukraine’s use of long-range U.S.-supplied missiles to strike Russian targets, in an effort to help kyiv defend itself while trying to prevent a further escalation of the conflict.

After reports of Biden’s approval came in, Zelenskyy said that strikes are not done with words, nor are such things announced. “The missiles will speak for themselves,” he said.

In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved revisions to Moscow’s nuclear doctrine. The new policy expands the scope of Russia’s use of nuclear weapons.

The Putin-endorsed policy also allows the use of nuclear weapons in retaliation for any significant conventional attacks against Russia, including drone attacks.

For months, Moscow has been warning the West that if Washington allowed Ukraine to fire American, British and French missiles at Russia, it would view those NATO members as directly involved in the war in Ukraine.
