Date

(MENAFN) Azerbaijan and Turkey are ready to strengthen cooperation in the field of green energy, as announced by the Azerbaijani government. energy Minister, Parviz Shahbazov, during the UN COP29 climate change conference in Baku. Shahbazov highlighted several key initiatives, including the Global Pledge on Energy Storage and Networks, the Pledge on Green Energy: Green Energy Zones and Corridors and the Hydrogen Declaration, which Azerbaijan presented at the conference. These initiatives reflect ongoing projects between Azerbaijan and Turkey, with efforts already underway to strengthen their energy collaboration.

The minister highlighted the importance of increasing energy storage and improving electricity networks, as essential elements in the fight against climate change. He also highlighted the importance of establishing international standards and certifications for hydrogen energy, an essential aspect of future green energy development. These commitments align with Azerbaijan’s goals to significantly increase its renewable energy capacity and double its energy efficiency, goals initially set at the COP28 conference in Dubai the previous year.

Shahbazov highlighted that the partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkey in the field of green energy is already among the strongest, with both countries working closely on various energy projects. Looking ahead, he said cooperation between the two countries will deepen further as they continue to work towards achieving their ambitious energy goals.

The energy initiatives presented at COP29 are part of Azerbaijan’s broader strategy to promote sustainability and combat climate change through international collaboration. With Turkey being a key partner in these efforts, both countries are ready to play a leading role in promoting green energy solutions in the region.
