New Jersey Offers Best Fuel Prices as Gas Drops for Thanksgiving Travel

If you are considering being one of the most 71 million drivers AAA plans to take the road beyond Thanksgiving holidayYou’ll likely feel less pain at the pump as gas prices are expected to hit four-year lows.

Here’s what you can expect to pay when crossing Delaware and Pennsylvania…and why you should fuel up in New Jersey.

Gas prices hit their lowest level before Thanksgiving

Nationally, the AAA noted that gas price were on the verge of falling below $3 a gallon before settling at $3.08 over the weekend.

“The current national average for a gallon of gasoline is $3.08,” reads part of AAA’s gas cost analysis, “12 cents less than a month ago and 27 cents less than a year ago.”

How much does gas cost in Delaware?

If you plan to drive through the first state, you can expect to pay on average $3.1119 per gallon.

But, according to AAA, that price can vary depending on where you buy your gas in Delaware.

For example, a gallon of gasoline in New Castle costs $3.081 per gallon, while it costs $3.169 in Kent and $3.150 in Sussex.

Gasoline drops below $3 in New Jersey

The lowest gas prices for the Thanksgiving holiday will be in New Jersey, with prices now hovering at $2.898 per gallon.

However, in New Jersey, the AAA claims that the highest gas costs are found in Cape May, Essex, Hudson and Passaic.

Pennsylvania has the highest gas prices in the Mid-Atlantic region

Thanksgiving travelers would be wise to stock up before entering Pennsylvania, because at an average of $3,250 per gallon, it’s not only the highest rate in the Mid-Atlantic region, but it exceeds also the national average of almost 25 cents.

AAA rates it highest gas prices in Pennsylvania are found in the central and southeastern sections of Pennsylvania. McKean, Potter and Warren counties all have gas prices ranging from $3,596 in Potter to $3,751 in Warren.
