We want to establish the idea of equality: Yunus

Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus said on Thursday that the caretaker government wanted to establish the idea that we are all equal. No one is above anyone and no one is below anyone in national life.

He was addressing a reception accorded to bravery award-winning freedom fighters and their heirs, organized by the Armed Forces Division at the Dhaka Cantonment Multipurpose Complex on the occasion of Armed Forces Day, reports BSS .

“From now on, we want to build Bangladesh in such a way that the people are the real source of all power,” he said.

He also said his government’s responsibility was to bind all members of a larger family together.

“There will be differences of opinion within the family…but we will not be enemies of one another. We will not consider anyone an enemy because of their opinion. We will not consider anyone an enemy because of their religion,” he added.

Recalling the contribution of the armed forces to the Great Liberation War, Prof. Yunus said that on this day in 1971, the valiant members of the armed forces and the common people of Bangladesh jointly launched a coordinated attack on the occupying forces Pakistani.

As a result, the country’s victory was achieved and Bangladesh became an independent and sovereign state, he said.

“Today, I remember with great respect all the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the liberation war and I pray to Allah Almighty for the salvation of their departed souls,” he added.

The Chief Advisor also paid his humble respects to the war-wounded gallantry award-winning freedom fighters and all family members of the valiant freedom fighters.

Talking about the recent student-led uprising, Prof Yunus said a new Bangladesh was also achieved on August 5, 2024 through a student-people revolution.

He also called for working together to confront the climate crisis and consolidate global peace and economy, maintaining friendship with all countries.

“We will maintain friendship with all states. Mutual respect, trust and cooperation will be the basis of our foreign policy. We must work together to confront the climate crisis and consolidate global peace and the economy,” he declared.

Thus, the senior advisor said that all should move at the pace of the world.

“We must ensure an environment in which our young society, despite its limited resources, can contribute to nation-building by developing its own merit-based creativity,” Professor Yunus said.

The government is determined to realize the dream of the freedom fighters who liberated the country with the dream of establishing a welfare state free from discrimination and exploitation, he said.

Bangladesh is already appreciated in the eyes of the world as a humane and caring state, he added.

The senior advisor said his government’s commitment to the freedom fighters, martyred and injured students and all those who joined the student-led revolution is to build a beautiful and prosperous future using the opportunity that the people brought to build a new Bangladesh in return for their sacrifice. .

He also sought happiness, peace and general welfare of the people of the country, including the valiant freedom fighters and their family members.
