Falling interest rates spark optimism among retail investors

Retail investors consume more economic information, which helps them be optimistic about their portfolios.

A recent survey from investment platform Fundrise found that 60% of retail investors feel optimistic about their investments. Meanwhile, only 15% feel pessimistic.

“You can see this incredible optimism and confidence in the market everywhere,” Ben Miller, managing director of Fundrise, told MarketWatch. “The survey data matches the anecdotes. People are more optimistic, more optimistic and have more favorable expectations about (interest) rates than I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Additionally, the survey found that 96% of respondents had paid attention to news about interest rate cuts and the resulting economic impacts, and 60% said they followed economic news several times a week or daily.
