I rewatched Deadpool and Wolverine on Disney+ and discovered a dark place Ryan Reynolds wasn’t willing to go to as a joke

When it comes to Shawn Levy‘s Deadpool and Wolverineit seems like all types of material are on the table for the benefit of a joke. Ryan Reynolds used the Deadpool series to make fun of his career, his talents, his marriage to Blake Lively (there is a wonderful Gossip Girl joke in the first moments of Deadpool and Wolverine), and much more. I admire Reynolds for taking a no-holds-barred approach to comedy in the Deadpool films and for embracing the R rating that allows his collaborators to fully push the boundaries. You won’t hear jokes like this in too many other countries. upcoming Marvel movies.

At the same time, I also applaud Reynolds for knowing when not to cross the line.

The latest Marvel movie dead Pool and Wolverine recently started broadcasting for those with a Disney+ subscription, and it gave me the opportunity to go back and really pay closer attention to some of my favorite scenes from the film. The cameos it continued to be a lot of funand I loved the comic book influences found in Wolverines multiverse montage. It wasn’t until I got to the tracking shot sequence across the dead Pool It was towards the end of the film that I realized there was a line Reynolds wouldn’t cross in the name of a joke. And I admire him.

By now you probably know that Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, played Lady Deadpool in this sequence (perhaps the worst kept secret in recent MCU history). What you may not have realized is that the couple’s daughter, Inez, is the one who plays Kidpool in the movie. You know, the one who says to Deadpool:

Hey! When I want your opinion, I take Wolverine’s cock out of your mouth.
