General Mills to expand Hannibal, Missouri plant

General Mills will expand its manufacturing facility in Hannibal, Missouri, to add an Old El Paso hard shell taco production line. The cost was not disclosed, but it is expected to create more than 35 new jobs, according to the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

The General Mills plant in Hannibal produces food products in several categories and brands, including Nature Valley, Betty Crocker, Old El Paso and Progresso. The company’s Hannibal location has been in operation since 1972 and has undergone multiple expansions to now employ more than 1,000 people.

For this expansion, General Mills is receiving state assistance through the Missouri Works program and Missouri One Start, which helps businesses meet their recruiting and training needs.
