If you’re French or live in Swansea, the third Thursday in November means only one thing: Beaujolais Day.

In France it’s marked with fireworks, music and other festivities, but in Swansea they take it very seriously.

The Empire salon recorded more than 80 bookings for Beaujolais Day, opening to customers at 06:00 GMT. Some wanted to come even earlier.

“It’s Christmas Day in Swansea,” said owner Jennifer Parmenter.

She said there was a “real party atmosphere” in the salon that day.
