Craig Thomas and Trey Bowman earn Southern League honors

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) – The Shuckers’ season is over, but some members of the organization are still bringing home postseason accolades.

While Craig Thomas won the Southern League Clubhouse Manager of the Year and Trey Bowman won the Southern League Head Groundkeeper of the Year.

Thomas said he wanted to create a major league atmosphere at the local club to make the transition to AAA or the majors smoother for everyone who came through Biloxi this year.

Bowman says it’s a tireless effort to keep the grounds in good condition, especially with how often the weather changes in South Mississippi.

Overall, both say it’s a huge honor to bring the awards back to Keesler Federal Park.

“It’s good, we have a lot of good guys in the organization and a lot of good guys on the clubhouse staff, top to bottom,” Thomas said. “To me, representing us as a whole, it shows what the Shuckers and the Brewers have in the organization.”

“This is a joint effort, you don’t do it all yourself,” Bowman said. “I’m excited for the crew and for achieving a goal we set for ourselves. Sharing this with everyone else in our group and our team is what I’m truly happiest about.

The two men are the first-ever Shuckers managers and groundskeepers to earn these honors.
