CBSE, ICAI collaborate to improve financial education of students

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote commerce-based skill courses among the students. Through the ICAI Career Guidance Committee, this initiative focuses on the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector. The partnership aims to improve the employability and career opportunities of students by providing specialist skills development in business-related areas.

Under this initiative, ICAI will leverage its expertise to develop course content, study materials and training modules.

The institute will also play an active role in organizing workshops, training sessions and career guidance activities to create awareness about career prospects in accounting and allied fields.

The major aspect of the partnership is to create awareness among educators and students about the vast opportunities available in the commerce sector.

IMPORTANT AGREEMENT DETAILS

Highlighting the importance of the agreement, ICAI President CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal said, “This MoU marks a crucial step towards building a robust skill development ecosystem for students at across India. By promoting commerce-based skills courses, we aim to equip students with industry-relevant skills and bridge the gap between education and professional training requirements. This partnership will undoubtedly open up new career opportunities in accounting and finance.”

The collaboration also includes awareness programs for school principals, teachers and management teams of CBSE-affiliated schools. These sessions will highlight the role of BFSI-related skill courses in shaping the careers of students.

Additionally, CBSE plans to carry out capacity building initiatives to improve the capabilities of teachers in commerce-related subjects, ensuring that they are well prepared to effectively deliver these specialized courses.

ICAI’s efforts to promote education and professional development extend beyond this partnership. The institute has already signed 85 agreements with various universities, colleges and educational institutions to foster academic excellence, research and knowledge sharing.

These initiatives aim to create a workforce equipped to meet the demands of a rapidly changing economy, the ICAI said in a statement.
