A memorial was held in Birmingham city center yesterday for the 50th anniversary of the attacks.

We’re with Radio WM now where the Birmingham pub bombings and request an investigation are noted.

A recording of Justice for 21s campaigner Julie Hambleton is played to Sir Keir, in which she lists investigations into other national tragedies and scandals. Her question to him: “Where is ours?”

The Prime Minister said it was an “absolutely horrible” case.

“We are engaging with the community and activists,” he says, adding that the government will listen to those affected by the 1974 atrocities.

Asked how much longer families will have to wait, he said: “We will continue to talk to them, engage and make a decision as quickly as possible.”

Starmer says it’s been a “very long wait for answers to some really important questions”, but adds: “I don’t want to commit to a date until it’s safe in my mind.”

He says that as a lawyer, he fought for justice his entire life and represented victims in many cases of injustice.

“We still have to get to the bottom of what happened,” he says.
