The latest from Koei Tecmo Q&A session with shareholderswhich was held in October 2024, has just been released and shows that the company is planning big expansions in the long term.

The publisher and developer — best known for Dynasty WarriorsTHE Workshop series, Romance of the Three KingdomsAnd Nioh — is looking to increase its workforce from 2,500 to 5,000, doubling its size and allowing the company to “consistently produce AAA titles” (via Automate Media, Stealth).

It will also focus on more PC and console games, as it “expects the console and PC gaming market to grow” due to new hardware releases. Well, that surely includes the successor to the Nintendo Switch.

The company also noted that the mobile gaming market has reached maturity and significant growth is unlikely to be seen, hence the focus on console and AAA titles. Maybe we’ll see more Dynasty Warriors games on the next Nintendo console.

Koei Tecmo has existed since 2009, after the merger of Koei (founded in 1978) and Tecmo (founded in 1967). The company is made up of several subsidiaries, including Omega Force, the team primarily responsible for Warriors games and spin-offs (including Fire Emblem Warriors And Hyrule Warriors) — Gust — which it acquired in 2014 and which is the team behind the Atelier franchise — and Team Ninja, known for Nioh, Dead or aliveAnd Ninja Gaiden.

2025 is shaping up to be a huge year for the publisher, because Dynasty Warriors: Origins is set to launch on consoles on January 17, 2025. Not on Switch though. But the Switch will get Atelier Yumia: The alchemist of memories and the imagined land on March 21, 2025 with a second Workshop, Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist and the White Guardianlater in the year.
