RALEIGH, North Carolina (WTVD) — Some of the coldest air of the season has moved into central North Carolina.

Friday morning was the coldest morning of the fall so far. The afternoon will be cool, with gusty winds and highs in the lower 50s.

Initially, a frost watch was issued for the area, which was later upgraded to a frost warning. According to the National Weather Service, a frost warning is issued when there is a risk of significant and widespread freezing temperatures. WARMING CENTERS

Cumberland County, in conjunction with Fayetteville, has opened several warming centers for residents without access to heat.

All eight Cumberland County public libraries will be open as warming centers.
