Martin Army Community Hospital Earns Top Safety Ratings, Achieves Accreditation



Martin Army Community Hospital has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Rating from Leapfrog Group, solidifying its commitment to patient safety and quality of care. One of 15 Defense Health Agency hospitals to achieve this grade.

The Leapfrog Group, an independent organization focused on healthcare quality, has named Martin Army Community Hospital (MACH) as one of 15 Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) to earn an “A » in its fall 2024 hospital safety rating, placing MACH first. 30% of all military and civilian hospitals are classified. This recognition highlights the hospital’s commitment to providing safe, high-quality care to Soldiers, families and retirees in the Fort Moore community.

Leapfrog evaluates infection prevention, surgical safety, and overall hospital practices using more than 30 evidence-based measures. “This award reflects our team’s unwavering dedication to providing world-class care to our military community,” said Col. John Taylor, MACH commander. “It is an honor to be recognized for our efforts to keep patients safe and ensure they receive the best treatment possible.

MACH achieved this recognition while passing its accreditation by the Joint Commission and ranking in the top 2 out of approximately 460 hospitals. The Joint Commission, a leading health care accrediting body, has rigorously reviewed the hospital to confirm that it meets high standards in patient care, safety and organizational management.

Taylor emphasized the importance of these two steps. “Achieving Joint Commission accreditation while simultaneously earning an ‘A’ from Leapfrog demonstrates the culture of excellence we strive for within the Martin Army,” he said. “It’s about to consistently put our patients first, and I am extremely proud of our team for achieving this.”

MACH actively supports the Defense Health Agency’s (DHA) transformation to standardize and improve care in military hospitals, demonstrating its commitment through these two achievements. As a risk site for the DHA success model, MACH responds to patient demands where they need our support, demonstrating leadership in providing innovative, safe and effective medical services to the military community.
