Cold morning followed by a warming trend over the weekend

Weekend: A Freeze Warning continues until 8 a.m. this morning for central Alabama. A gradual warming trend begins Saturday afternoon as highs return to the upper 50s, followed by the mid 60s on Sunday. We remained dry for two days under generally clear skies.

Next week: Another front arrives early in the week and serves as the focal point for a few showers Monday evening. Longer term, a storm system arrives for the second half of the week, which could bring a round of rain and potentially severe thunderstorms by Thanksgiving. Given current trends, the possibility of some violent storms will have to be considered. This forecast is not set in stone, but confidence will increase over the coming days, so check back for updates.

Once the rain ends, significantly colder air arrives in time for the weekend.
