Freezing weather could develop overnight in parts of northwest Florida and southwest Alabama

Cold weather alerts are in place for parts of the Gulf Coast as frosts could develop Saturday morning. A frost advisory is in effect for inland portions of northwest Florida and southwest Alabama. Further inland, a frost warning was issued for other parts of the Deep South.

Temperatures will be in the low 40s along the coast, but in inland areas they will fall into the 30s. Even with lows in the mid 30s, frosts will be possible.

The frost advisory is officially from midnight to 8 a.m. Saturday. Winds will be calm and skies clear, so frost could develop and damage sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants can be killed if left uncovered.

Warmer, wetter weather returns next week. There is a chance for rain on Thanksgiving Day as a front passes through. Cooler air will follow for Black Friday.
