Our Lady of Fatima Church supports the community on World Day of the Poor

Our Lady Fatima Catholic Church in South Hills celebrated World Day of the Poor by making sandwiches and distributing them to those in need in the community.

The church provided 150 sandwiches. The church has regular food programs and soup kitchens that feed the community ravaged by poverty and lack of job opportunities.

The Church provides a key service and is greatly valued by the community.

Deacon Walter Middleton spoke about the importance of celebrating World Day of the Poor.

“World Day of the Poor was established by Pope Francis eight years ago in an attempt to tackle the problem of world hunger. As a church, we want to continue this initiative and end hunger in our community,” Middleton said.

Much of the funding for the sandwiches was provided by Grassroots Heroes International.
