BBC presenter Lauren Laverne is cancer free, she has confirmed in an emotional update.

Lauren, 46, announced in August that she had been diagnosed with cancer, which she said was detected “early and unexpectedly during a screening test.”

But now she has posted a huge update on her social media pages, posting a smiling photo of herself wearing a sweater emblazoned with the words: “Life is beautiful.”

She wrote: “Well, hello! Just a quick update from me to say that after taking a little time to improve, everything is clear and I’ll be back at work on your TV this Tuesday with the wonderful team at @bbctheoneshow.

“I’ve also been working on new episodes of #DesertIslandDiscs (soon to air on @BBCRadio4 @BBCSounds) and look forward to returning to @BBC6Music in the new year.

Lauren added: “I want to say a huge thank you to the brilliant medical teams who took such good care of me, to the thousands of people who sent me such beautiful and encouraging messages, to the friends and acquaintances who took the time for supporting me after suffering from cancer themselves – and especially to my family: my two extraordinary children and especially my husband Graeme, who has been absolutely extraordinary throughout this period. learned a lot about what really matters.
