Leaders of Russia, Turkey discuss trade, other issues – BNN Bloomberg

(Bloomberg) — Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed relations between the two nations in a phone call Sunday.

“Current issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed in depth, with emphasis on increasing the effectiveness of trade and economic cooperation,” the Kremlin said in a statement posted on its website. “Taking this into account, contacts will be established between the services concerned.”

Putin and Erdogan also discussed international issues, the Kremlin said without further details. Erdogan said Turkey was continuing its efforts to end regional tensions and contribute to various peace processes, the official Anadolu Agency reported, citing a statement from the Presidential Communications Directorate.

The two met recently in Kazan, Russia, on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in October, when Putin highlighted “strategically important ties” in the energy sector, while Erdogan discussed efforts to resolve problems in banking transactions between the two countries.
