Trump has named controversial far-right pundit Sebastian Gorka as the National Security Council’s senior director for counterterrorism and deputy assistant to the president. This is an important position that does not require Senate confirmation. Gorka advised Trump during his first term, but was forced out after The Forward revealed that he had had ties to a Hungarian far-right group allied with the Nazis and supported an anti-Semitic and racist paramilitary militia in Hungary while he was a Hungarian politician.
In an interview earlier this month on Russian channel RT, Gorka denied the existence of Palestine.
