Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson statement released following claims ‘federal crime’ took place | Boxing | Sport

The promoter of the sensational Jake Paul v Mike Tyson fight has hit back at claims the fight was fixed, following Paul’s victory over the boxing legend. The YouTube star turned pugilist triumphed by unanimous decision in an eight-round exhibition, taking his record to 11 wins with just one loss against Tommy Fury in 2023.

The Texas showdown broke records, raising more than $18 million and becoming the highest-grossing boxing event ever held outside of Las Vegas. Despite this success, rumors of match fixing spread on social media, casting doubt on the legitimacy of the 27-year-old’s victory.

In response, Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, fiercely rejected these allegations and any suggestion that Paul’s victory was subject to coercion. “Following the widespread circulation of incorrect and baseless claims that undermine the integrity of the Paul v. Tyson event, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) wishes to set the record straight regarding contractual agreements and the nature of the combat”, we can read in the press release. .

He continued to emphasize the legality of the event: “Fixing a professional boxing match is a federal crime in the United States of America. Paul vs. Tyson was a professional match sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR).

“Both fighters performed in good faith to the best of their abilities in an effort to win the fight. There were absolutely no restrictions – contractual or otherwise – around either fighter. Each boxer was capable to use his entire arsenal to win the fight otherwise agreeing would violate TDLR boxing rules.

“Trash talk and speculation are common in sports, and athletes and promoters must tolerate absurd comments, jokes and opinions. But to suggest anything other than the total effort of these fighters is not only naive but also a an insult to the work they put into their profession and to the sport itself.

“He’s even more illogical and foolish than MVP, at the start of a hopeful long-term partnership with the world’s biggest streamer – an organization that made its first-ever foray into live professional sports with Paul Vs. Tyson – could even consider such a perverse violation of competition rules.

The statement continues: “This is not the first time Jake Paul has faced unfounded skepticism or outright disbelief as a professional athlete, and frankly, the assertion that his fight must have been fixed is just the latest backhanded compliment to him,” said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions.

“From day one in the sport, people doubted his abilities, unable to reconcile the fact that someone with his background had accomplished so much in such a short time. Jake has not only proven himself repeatedly , but he has continually set historic records that speak for themselves.

“This event, which exceeded attendance and viewership records for a professional sporting event, is another example of his ability to deliver on the biggest stage. As long as Jake continues to exceed expectations, there will be always those who will try to discredit his achievements “We accept doubt: it only pushes Jake to work harder and achieve greater success. “
