It’s human nature to often feel dissatisfied with what we have, especially when it comes to looks and appearance. In pursuit of an ideal appearance, many people resort to various cosmetic procedures. A new trend in cosmetic surgery has emerged to achieve the desired appearance and shape. Unfortunately, this obsession can sometimes have devastating consequences.

A similar story emerged in China, where a woman’s attempt to improve her appearance ended in tragedy. The woman, who suffered from pimples and birthmarks on her face, underwent laser treatment at a hospital to enhance her beauty. But the result is far from what she hoped for.

A quest to eliminate imperfections turns into tragedy

According to a report from South China Morning Posta woman named Liu from Tianjin, China, lost her life after undergoing laser treatment.

Her husband revealed that she was deeply unhappy with the spots and birthmarks on her body, which prompted her to seek laser treatment at Jinmen Dermatological Hospital. The procedure costs around Rs 12 lakh. Liu’s mother mentioned that the treatment caused her significant pain and discomfort due to the application of anesthesia.

A fatal outcome

On October 21, during her last treatment session, Liu started feeling unwell after applying the numbing cream. She lost consciousness, prompting doctors to remove the cream and rush her to hospital. Despite receiving emergency medical treatment, Liu remained in critical condition for 10 days before succumbing to her condition.

Preliminary reports suggest the cause of death was excessive anesthesia, although the forensic report is still awaited. The hospital said it would take full responsibility if its negligence was confirmed. The incident sparked widespread concern on social media, with many people emphasizing that health should always take precedence over beauty.
