Windows 11 24H2 encountered even more bugs

Windows 11 24H2 seems to be experiencing more and more issues as the update continues to roll out, and here’s another group of new issues developers are experiencing.

To begin with, one of the most recent bugs to appear represents a a problem for PC gamers (again)as reported on MicrosoftThe release health dashboard.

This one concerns problems with Ubisoft games so some titles may become unresponsive when starting, loading, or during active gameplay, leading to a black screen crash in some cases.

The games affected are as follows:

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Assassin’s Creed Origins
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Star Wars Outlaws
Avatar: Pandora’s Borders

We’re told that Ubisoft has released a patch for Star Wars Outlaws This means the game will no longer freeze, but players might still experience technical issues in terms of unspecified “performance issues”, so we can guess that perhaps this means bouts of slow frame rates.

On top of that, there is another gremlin that wreaks havoc 24 hours a day for certain USB devices, mainly standalone USB scanners, like Microsoft once again. explains in its dashboard.

Latest versions of Windows also noticed that Dolby Digital sound would not work in Windows 11 24H2, with a new installation, that is to say the Dolby Audio decoders are not pre-installed in the OS from 24H2. So in this case you will have to install them manually.

Finally, the tech site also noticed that there was a bug with Dell PCs with a certain application that means they won’t hibernate or shut down, a pretty big problem it must be said.

This happens when Windows 11 24H2 is installed on a Dell machine with an older version of the Dell Encryption app, as confirmed by the laptop maker itself.

In a holder documentDell tells us: “Dell Encryption v11.9 and earlier are not compatible with 24H2 and should not be installed on these computers. »

Note that this app is something you’ll see in a professional environment, so chances are it won’t be an app you’ll need to worry about – but it’s still something you should be aware of, given the impact here, if you have a Dell laptop for working from home, for example.

Analysis: hell for Dell, and Ubisoft too

So, for those who own such a Dell laptop, you need to be careful here because not turning off the PC is quite a critical bug. What’s more worrying here is that, as Windows Latest observes, Microsoft has not yet suspended the 24H2 update for PCs running Dell Encryption v11.9 or earlier – normally, these systems should be stuck since the upgrade due to this incompatibility issue.

At least that was the case at the time of writing, and the current advice is to make sure Dell Encryption v11.10 (or higher) is installed before grabbing the 24H2 update. Your Dell PC may already have this app updated, hopefully, but we don’t take that for granted.

The good news is that the bug most likely to affect our readers – with Ubisoft games – has an upgrade block in place. So, if the games mentioned are installed, the 24H2 update will not be offered to you. Also, do not try to bypass this compatibility block by manually installing 24H2 (using, for example, the Media Creation Tool), as this will end in tears (or your PC games crash instead).

As mentioned at the beginning, there is a increasing number of problems with the 24H2 updateso we can’t imagine the rollout will open up to many more PCs any time soon. Microsoft has a lot of repairs to do here, the work that is already being done is fair.
