The Source | Jake Paul’s Promoter Slams Fight Fixing Allegations Against Legend Mike Tyson

Well, we knew this was going to happen. Jake Paul’s team has responded to allegations that his victory over boxing legend Mike Tyson was faked, calling the accusations baseless and nonsense. Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the organization behind Paul’s boxing endeavors, released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter regarding the allegations.

“He’s even more illogical and foolish than MVP, at the start of a hopeful long-term partnership with the world’s biggest streamer – an organization that made its first-ever foray into live professional sports with Paul Vs. Tyson – could even consider such a perverse violation of competition rules,” the statement said.

Is this really the case? Let’s unpack a little more…

Earlier this month, Jake Paul took on the former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in a highly publicized and officially sanctioned boxing match broadcast on Netflix. Despite technical streaming issues that frustrated some viewers, the event broke attendance and audience records. Paul ultimately won the fight by unanimous decision.

After the fight, sports commentator and former NFL star Michael Irvin appeared on Cam’Ron and Mase’s It Is What It Is talk show, expressing skepticism about the legitimacy of the fight.

“That fight was a lie,” Irvin said. “Everyone lies (…) they didn’t really intend to tie him up. If you look through that, I haven’t seen a single patented uppercut from Mike Tyson. What did Mike Tyson win on? Uppercut.”

We’ve all seen it. What do you think? Was it a lie or a real “sanctioned” fight?

He went on to allege that Tyson’s signature move was intentionally left out of the match. “I heard some people say they couldn’t put (Mike Tyson’s uppercut) in the contract,” Irvin said. “He couldn’t body then uppercut. How can you put that in a fight contract?

Now if that were true, wow. But where is the evidence?

Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, dismissed the allegations of rigging, calling them another baseless attempt to undermine Paul’s achievements.

“This is not the first time Jake Paul has faced unfounded skepticism or outright disbelief as a professional athlete, and frankly, the assertion that his fight must have been fixed is just the latest backhanded compliment to him,” Bidarian told The Hollywood Reporter. .

Skeptics will be skeptical. Sometimes wild claims have merit and sometimes wild claims don’t if you think about them.

He further highlighted the importance of the event’s success, saying: “This event, which achieved significant milestones in attendance and viewership for a professional sporting event, is another example of its ability to deliver his promises on the biggest stage. As long as Jake continues to exceed expectations, there will always be those who try to discredit his accomplishments. We embrace doubt: it only pushes Jake to work harder and achieve greater success.

Regardless, who is Paul going to fight next outside of the post-Tyson media circus he’s fighting right now.
