New developments follow bail hearing for Catholic priest

WACO, Texas (KXXV) — On November 26, 2024, a bond hearing was held for a Catholic priest currently in prison on three grand jury indictments of sexual assault and a pending potential indictment for possession of child pornography.

During the hearing, prosecutors presented DNA evidence confirming that Anthony Odiong was the biological father of one of his known victim’s children.

Bail had been set at $5.5 million prior to this hearing. After the hearing, the request to reduce bail was denied and bail will remain at $5.5 million.

In March this year, an investigation was launched into Odiong after a credible report was filed of a possible sexual assault in 2012. That investigation has since identified nine survivors.

It was reported that Odiong’s father had more of his victim’s children; two offspring identifications have been made, with additional offspring yet to be identified.

An investigation into possible financial crimes has also been opened.

Odiong is currently in the McLennan County Jail, where he was extradited from Ave Maria, Florida for arraignment on July 16, 2024. This investigation is ongoing.

Waco police are still searching for survivors of Anthony Odiong’s abuse.

Additional charges are pending.
