Rajya Sabha adjourned for a day amid Oppn calls to discuss Adani and Sambhal

Proceedings in the Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the day on Wednesday, November 27, as opposition members insisted on a discussion on various issues, including corruption charges linked to the Adani group.

Proceedings were first briefly adjourned in the morning due to the opposition protest, and when the House reconvened at 11:30 a.m., identical scenes occurred.

This prompted Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar to adjourn proceedings for the day, saying “the House is not in order”.

The problems began after Dhankhar rejected 18 notices submitted to him under a House rule to suspend planned work and address issues mentioned in the notices.

The notices concerned requests for “constitution of a JPC to investigate alleged misconduct, including corruption, bribery, financial irregularities of the Adani group in connivance with other authorities”, violence against Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh and increasing incidents of crime in the national capital.
