Samuel L. Jackson is watching the Oscars with a new perspective.

Jackson, 75, didn’t mince his words when sharing his thoughts on the coveted gong, saying Oscar nominations don’t mean much to him.

“We’ve been in the business long enough to know that when people walk away, ‘It’s just an honor to be nominated.’ No, it’s not,” Jackson told the Associated Press in a joint interview with her “The Piano Lesson” co-star Michael Potts.

“It’s an honor to win,” the “Pulp Fiction” actor said, adding that most people eventually forget about Oscar-nominated performances.

“You get nominated and people say, ‘Yeah, I remember that.’ “Or most people forget,” he joked.

The Unbreakable actor was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 1995 Academy Awards for his role as Jules Winnfield in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.

He ultimately lost out to Martin Landau for his role as Ed Wood in the 1994 film of the same name.

Jackson believed he would have won an Oscar for his role in Joel Schumacher’s “A Time To Kill” if his memorable scenes hadn’t been cut from the final version.

“The things they took away kept me from getting an Oscar,” Jackson told the old Vulture in 2023. “Really, motherfuckers? Did you just take this shit from me?

After years of not receiving the coveted award, Jackson finally received the honorary Oscar in 2021 and was recognized as a “cultural icon” by the Academy. P.A.

“My first day working on this movie, I gave a speech in a room with an actor and the whole fucking set was in tears when I finished. I was like, ‘Okay. I’m on the right page. This shit is not in the movie! And I know why that’s not the case. Because it wasn’t my film and they weren’t trying to make me a star.

“Usually it’s a competition you didn’t volunteer for,” he said of awards ceremonies. “I didn’t get into this so I could bend. “Let me do my scene, so you can remember who I was.” »

“They nominate you and people say, ‘What movie are you nominated for?’ What’s the name of this thing? And once it’s over, people have a hard time remembering who won,” the “Snakes on a Plane” actor added.

Jackson played the role of Jedi Master Mace Windu in George Lucas’ “Star Wars II: Attack of the Clones.” P.A.

The “Star Wars” actor also told Vulture that his 2021 Oscar “didn’t feel honorary” and instead “just felt like he was getting an Oscar.”

“I deserved it. I worked for this,” he told the outlet. “I can name maybe four other cases where I could have won, or I should have won, or I should have been nominated, but that’s OK with me. It’s mine. Got it. My name is on it.
