Paloma Faith sells clothes to raise money for Oxfam Gaza-Lebanon appeal

Singer Paloma Faith said public donations for her charity clothing sale for Gaza and Lebanon “give me hope that good people exist”.

The Only Love Can Hurt Like This star sold her clothes, bags and accessories, including a Halloween outfit she shared with Alan Carr, a Dolce and Gabbana denim jacket gifted to her by rapper Eve and pajamas silky to raise funds for Oxfam’s Gaza-Lebanon appeal.

The 43-year-old offered her fans the chance to shop her stage and screen looks at a pop-up store at Gipsy Queen in Kentish Town, north London on Wednesday – with items ranging from £20 to £150 £.

Fans could also donate an extra £20 to take a selfie with Faith, an Oxfam ambassador since 2013.

She joked on Instagram promoting the sale: “And if you slip me £20 I’ll take a selfie with you (just make sure you get my good side hahahaha).”

Speaking after the event, she told the PA news agency: “I donated performance outfits, appearance outfits and a Halloween costume that I made with Alan Carr for the Shining twins and loads of shoes and a mix of affordable and expensive things.

“My friend Eve, who is the rapper from Who’s That Girl, also donated some of her stuff.”

“I would like to thank everyone who has put their money where their heart is and done something to change lives, even if it is the least of what we can do,” Faith said.

“It gives me hope that good people exist because sometimes you can feel deflated by all the assholes in the world.”

The development comes a day after a truce, announced Tuesday evening, would see hostilities between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah suspended for 60 days, with both sides withdrawing from southern Lebanon.

All profits from the sale will be donated to Oxfam’s appeal to help those living in Gaza and Lebanon as well as people who have been displaced or fled their homes.

The charity hopes to provide emergency food, clean water, hygiene kits and water repairs.

She added: “The situation in Gaza is beyond horrible. People live every day in fear, without sufficient food or water and under constant bombardment, while shelters in Lebanon are overwhelmed by more than a million people fleeing escalating violence.

“I’m so grateful to everyone who came to my pop-up shop last night to help us raise vital funds where they are so desperately needed.”

Magnus Corfixen, Oxfam’s humanitarian manager, said the team shared their gratitude for Faith’s pop-up sale.

He said: “We are immensely grateful to Paloma and everyone who supported her incredible pop-up shop last night, to help raise urgently needed funds to help people in Gaza and Lebanon whose lives have been devastated by conflict.

“Please continue to give what you can to help us save lives now and to help us scale up our humanitarian response when it is safe to do so.” »
