Qatar Airways continues to push to expand its flights to Australia beyond its partnership with Virgin Australia, a move that would challenge Qantas’ dominance of European flights, after consumer watchdog has given provisional approval for seven additional flights per week.

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission deputy chairman Mick Keogh said it was “hard to imagine” a situation where more theft would be a bad thing for consumers, while rejecting the Qantas’ argument that granting additional flights would undermine international flight rules.
