ISKCON Kolkata expresses concern over freezing of monks’ bank accounts

BJP protest in Kolkata demands immediate release of ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das arrested in Bangladesh | X

Kolkata: ISKCON Kolkata on Friday expressed concern over the freezing of bank accounts of 17 monks in Bangladesh, including arrested monk Chinmoy Krishna Das.

ISKCON Kolkata vice-president Radharaman Das said devotees and monks will have more problems with this development.

“To run an organization, we need money. The faithful monks need money to eat, pay the electricity bill and meet other expenses. We at ISKCON must serve the people. We don’t even hurt an ant. I don’t know why ISKCON is being targeted in Bangladesh,” Radharaman said.

Radharaman further mentioned that they would continue their protest in Kirtan as an appeal to God to save the minorities who are being heckled in the neighboring country.

Notably, the Bangladesh government expressed concern over an alleged violent protest in front of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata by a Hindu group ‘Bongio Hindu Jagaran Manch’ and urged the Indian government to provide security to the high commission Deputy and other Bangladeshi diplomats in India. .

Meanwhile, the Indian Secular Front (ISF) also visited the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission on Friday to present a deputation and ISF MP Naushad Siddiqui urged the majorities of Bangladesh to take care of the minorities who reside there.

Meanwhile, Subhrangshu Bhakta, director of JN Roy Hospital in north Kolkata, said the hospital authorities have decided not to treat any Bangladeshi and will not admit any Bangladeshi national to the hospital.

“Providing health services is piety, but those who may disrespect the Indian national flag, we will not treat them nor will admission be given to anyone from Bangladesh for an indefinite period, because the country and the national flag surpasses everything,” Bhakta said.

Welcoming the move, Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari said it was time for Hindus in India to give a befitting reply to those who are heckling minorities in Bangladesh.
