Katherine Waterston sometimes aspires to exist in the Hollywood “studio system”.

The 44-year-old actress believes that working regularly with one studio would help her “get into work more quickly” and develop continuity with her co-stars.

She told The Independent: “I sometimes fantasize about the days of the studio system, which had its undeniable drawbacks… but actors had to work together in multiple films. It meant you could jump in the deep end and go for more quickly into work.

Katherine admits that she places a lot of trust in the people she works with.

The actress said: “A film and television actor is a bit like a blindfolded painter. What artist would do all their paintings blindfolded and then let them hang on the wall, asking someone else if they were any good? TO DO.”

Katherine also recognized that the film industry is much more commercial than the theater world.

She explains: “I started in theater, where you don’t really need to understand business. There is no business, in fact, no one makes money!”

Katherine’s career breakthrough came in 2014, when she starred in the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed mystery comedy, “Inherent Vice.”

The actress was then cast as Tina Goldstein in the “Fantastic Beasts” film franchise, and Katherine admits she wasn’t prepared for the transformative impact it had on her life.

She said: “All the other candidates for this role were big stars; I never thought I was going to get it.

“Honestly, it was hard to catch up with the pace at which my life had changed during that time. I really didn’t know what I was doing in a major franchise.”
