Video: Michigan-Ohio State fight breaks out on field after game

College football was dominated by flags on Saturday. Not the ones thrown by the officials – the ones planted by the players in the middle of the field.

Several teams celebrated their victories by displaying flags on the logos in the middle of their rivals’ stadiums.

The one that made headlines happened at Ohio State, where a fight broke out between rival teams involving police and sent at least one person to the hospital.

Here’s what you need to know:

Minutes from Michigan 13-10 victory at Ohio Stadiumplayers began brawling at midfield when a Michigan flag was planted over the Ohio State logo.

The moment was captured during the FOX Sports broadcast and on cellphone video of several people inside the stadium.

It was not immediately clear which player attempted to plant the flag, but video from the stands showed several Ohio State players rushing onto the field where Michigan players were centered around the flag.

Ohio police used pepper spray to disperse the players, who threw punches and shoved in the melee that overshadowed the Wolverines’ victory. A police officer suffered unspecified injuries and was taken to a hospital, a police union official said.

Ohio State coach Ryan Day said he understood his players’ actions.

“There are some proud guys on our team who weren’t going to stand by and let this happen,” Day said.

Michigan running back Kalel Mullings said he didn’t like the way Buckeyes players got involved in the Wolverines’ postgame celebration, calling it “classless.”

And another skirmish occurred in Tallahassee, Fla., after Gators edge rusher George Gumbs Jr. planted a flag on the Florida State logo following a 31-11 victory.

Arizona State defensive lineman Jacob Rich Kongaika attempted to plant a trident in the middle of the Arizona logo after a 49-7 win over the Wildcats. Kongaika, a transfer from Arizona, then held on as Arizona receiver Montana Lemonious-Craig tried to take the trident away from him, and the duo was surrounded by players from each school.

And another fight occurred after Missouri’s dramatic 28-21 win over Arkansas, but there didn’t appear to be any props involved.
