The special vote allows security personnel, media workers and election officials to vote early because they will be working on Election Day on December 7.

Approximately 131,478 voters, or 0.007% of total registered voters, are expected to take part in the special vote.

Speaking before the exercise, Jean Mensa, Chairman of the Electoral Commission, assured the public of a smooth and credible voting process in the 14 regions.

Why the Eastern and Western regions were excluded

The Eastern and Western regions were excluded following the EC’s decision to recall and reprint ballot papers for these areas.

The special vote in these regions has been postponed until Thursday, December 5 to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.

Mensa said the decision was prompted by a National Security report, which revealed that a defaced ballot paper, intended for destruction, had been found outside a printing plant.
