Former Steelers WR has uncertain future with new team after mysterious benching

Ancient Pittsburgh Steelers Wide receiver Diontae Johnson’s future with the Baltimore Ravens for the remainder of the season is uncertain after he did not play a single snap against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Johnson’s lousy snaps came after Rashod Bateman suffered a knee injury that knocked him out for the rest of the game. Instead, those snaps went to Tylan Wallace and Nelson Agholor and Johnson did not play.

When asked after the game why Johnson didn’t play, head coach John Harbaugh said he wasn’t ready to discuss it.

“I’m not really ready to comment on that at the moment. I will be, but I just don’t have enough information right now to talk about it,” Harbaugh said.

Lamar Jackson’s response was just as enigmatic. He said that the Crows I want Johnson there, but it seems like there’s an obstacle the Ravens haven’t publicly discussed yet.

“We want him there. He’s an excellent receiver. We didn’t get him from the Panthers for nothing,” Jackson said.

Since being traded from Carolina, Johnson has only one reception for six yards. His snaps, instead of increasing, have decreased, and it appears his future with the Ravens is murkier than ever after the Baltimore loss.
