Hannah Kobayashi: “Ignoring the so-called discoveries”

The family of Hannah Kobayashi, a 30-year-old Maui woman missing since Nov. 8, disagrees with police findings that Hannah intentionally missed her flight from Los Angeles to New York on Nov. 8 november.

On November 26, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell, at a meeting of the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners, said:

“On Friday, November 8, Hannah Kobayashi, 23, missed her connecting flight from LAX to New York, which the investigation determined was intentional.”

He also mentioned that investigators were working diligently on the case, examining details and employing various investigative techniques. He assured that investigators were determined to find Hannah.

On November 30, Hannah’s family posted a message on Facebook repeating what the LAPD chief had said at the town hall meeting. As reported People Magazinein the post, Hannah’s family wrote that they were,

“unaware of the purported findings presented at the Los Angeles Police Commission meeting until several videos of the meeting were sent to us by several citizens… These purported findings have not yet been forwarded to my mother and I directly from the Los Angeles Police Chief or any detective involved in the Hannah case.”

In addition, they also pointed out some errors in the LAPD chief’s statements,

“Specific facts in this report were inaccurate, such as Hannah’s age. Hannah is 30, not 23. Additionally, Hannah was reported missing to law enforcement on November 11, not November 13 November, as stated by the chief of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Hannah’s sister, Sydni, also wrote that Hannah would never stay off the grid after their father died. Although Hannah’s mother and sister expressed disappointment at the lack of communication from the police, they also expressed optimism and belief that the police would do everything they could to help them find Hannah.
