Tributes to woman who died suddenly at Belfast nightclub

Tributes have been paid to a young woman who died suddenly at a Belfast nightclub at the weekend.

Chloe Ferris, 24, from west Belfast, tragically lost her life in an incident which also left a second woman hospitalized. The condition of the second woman is not known at this time.

Sinn Fein councilor Claire Canavan said: “Devastating news about Chloe Ferris. It is absolutely tragic that a young woman has lost her life so suddenly. I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family and to friends of Ferris and Dynes as they learn this latest heartfelt story.

Sinn Féin MP Orlaithi Flynn said: “I am shocked and deeply saddened to learn that a young woman lost her life early on Sunday morning in Belfast city centre.

“This is an absolute tragedy and I would like to offer my deepest condolences to this woman’s family and friends who today became aware of this unthinkable and heartbreaking news.

“My thoughts are also with another woman and her loved ones as she remains in hospital today undergoing treatment.

“Police have asked anyone who could help with their investigation to contact them.”

Colin Neill, chief executive of Hospitality Ulster, said he was saddened by the news.

He added: “No one should ever go out at night without going home.

“While we await further information, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased woman.

“Our thoughts are also with the woman who remains in hospital.”

A PSNI The spokesperson said: “Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a woman in her 20s at a nightclub in Belfast city center in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 1 December.

“Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene at around 2.20am following reports that two women had fallen unconscious.

“Sadly, when emergency services arrived, one of the women had died.

“The other was taken to hospital where she remains under treatment.

“Police investigations are at a very early stage and anyone who thinks they may have information that could help them can contact police on 101 or submit information online via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport /.”
